About Liz

My love of skiing and passion for speaking French was the springboard for my ensuing studies, my work life, and ultimately my career in translation. After graduating in 1999 with a degree in International business with French, I spent 13 winters in France where I was employed by a Skiset franchise to oversee their ski and snowboard retail section. During the summers, I worked in the UK within the accounts and credit control department of a bond broker and subsequently of a large travel intermediary where French-speaking businesses were included in my client portfolio. Having developed my linguistic expertise in these roles, I set out to acquire my translation skills by completing a Masters in Translation Studies between 2006 and 2009. I started translating full-time in 2011.

Working in various industries prior to my translation career enabled me to develop a diverse skill set, including excellent customer service and communication skills, while continuing to maintain my language proficiency, all key to running a successful translation business.

I am a Qualified member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting and adhere to its code of conduct. To achieve this membership status, my translation skills have been assessed and I have had to provide professional references for translation work from French to English, demonstrating client satisfaction.

In addition, I recognise the importance of continually expanding my knowledge and developing my skills through Continuing Professional Development. Whether this be a workshop on legal translation or a webinar on technology to aid the translation process, they all help towards producing high-quality translations from which my clients ultimately benefit.
